Day Creations, C.M.F Enterprises, Duncan Trail Taxidermy and KD Consulting Services were each awarded a $5, 000 small business forgivable loan from Choctaw Nation Small Business Development and the Choctaw Development Fund.

Pine Mountain Lures Awarded A $5,000 Loan

“Providing $20, 000 in forgivable loans within LeFlore County to these four small businesses is a huge win for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, ” said Jess Henry, Choctaw Nation Tribal Councilmember District 4. “These District 4 Chahtapreneur’s are not only fostering our local economy, but they’re keeping money close within the reservation and supporting our neighborhoods and community members.”

KD Consulting Services, owned by licensed professional counselor Kristi McConnell, provides consultation services to individuals and families in the Poteau, OK area. KD Consulting Services provide the highest quality behaviorally based therapeutic outpatient services to individuals, couples, children and adolescents in the most caring environment possible. Funds received from the Choctaw Nation will be used to purchase a computer, printer and scanner.

Choctaw Nation Gets Cares Funding For Tribal Members

Day Creations is owned by Matthew Cooper and located outside Bokoshe, OK, offering customers taxidermy and tannery options in the LeFlore County region. With over 16 years of fur handling experience, funds received from the Choctaw Nation will be used to assist Cooper in improvements to his shop.

C.M.F. Enterprise is owned and operated by Kinsey Akers in Poteau, OK. C.M.F Enterprise offers delivery of cargo to anywhere that does not require a passport. Funds received from the Choctaw Nation will be used to assist C.M.F. Enterprise with purchasing a cargo van for the company.

Morningstar Creations: Morningstar Creations sells original, high-quality beadwork, acrylic earrings and moccasins. Owned by Antonia Ruston, all items are created by hand in her home and sold to local customers. Ruston’s plan is to establish a website to conduct online sales soon.

Ruston plans to use the funds received from the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to purchase start-up equipment, inventory, shipping supplies and assist with initial marketing and permits for Morningstar Creations.

Red Beard Custom Works: Red Beard Custom Works offers excavation, dirt work, brush cleaning and debris removal in the LeFlore County and surrounding areas. Family-owned and operated by Eric and Melissa Hendrix, Red Beard Custom Works saw a lack of companies willing to come and offer services in their area and as a smaller company, they will be able to service the clientele that bigger companies ignore.

Hendrix plans to use the funds received from the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to purchase a brush cutter that will assist with the brush cleaning portion of his business and will give him the necessary tools needed to run his business successfully.

Salt Prairie Taxidermy: Salt Prairie Taxidermy, owned by Misty and Eric Fairless provides next-level taxidermy services in the LeFlore County area. Bringing unparalleled artistry and service for each of your outdoor adventures, Salt Prairie Taxidermy guarantees that your next catch will find its beautiful, well deserved spot on your wall because if you catch it, they can reproduce it to last a lifetime.

Revolving Loan Fund (rlf)

Fairless plans to use the funds received from the Choctaw Nation to purchase a heat and air unit, auto tanner, mini flesher and cape stretcher, all necessary equipment needed to run a successful taxidermy business.

TALIHINA, OK – TLK Trucking in Talihina, OK, was awarded a $5, 000 small business forgivable loan from Choctaw Nation Small Business Development and the Choctaw Development Fund.

Owned and operated by Tyler Kirkes, TLK Trucking offers brush hogging, demolition/cleanup, mulching, pad work, post driving, post-hole digging and dump truck hauling for areas surrounding Talihina.

“The Choctaw Nation goes above and beyond for their Chahtapreneurs and I’m so grateful for their support and guidance, ” said Tyler Kirkes, owner of TLK Trucking. “This forgivable loan will allow me to purchase necessary safety equipment and continue to grow my business and offer fence maintenance and other services to my clients in the future.”

Funding from the Choctaw Development Fund will assist TLK Trucking by allowing them to purchase a welder, welding mask, welding safety equipment and other equipment necessary for safety and business growth.
